There are many things you can do with a table saw, however they do not come with a stand for it when you purchase one from the store. Sometimes, people build table saw stand to save money.

If you frequently use your table saw, it wouldn’t be comfortable if you would have to pick it up from the ground every time you’d need to use it.

Compared to commercial tables, building your table saw stand would be more beneficial.

It’s because you can customize the design of your table saw stand.

You would usually just need a flat surface for your table saw to sit on and from there on you can add more features such as drawers and compartments.

Here is the list of items you will need to make your table saw stand. Keep in mind that depending on your design, the materials to be used may vary in size and/or quantity.

Also, the more intricate your design is, the more expensive it’ll be to build.

•     Plywood (size depends on the style)

•     Wood

•     Tape Measure

•     Screws

•     Screwdriver

•     Electric Saw

There are plenty of amazing designs for a table saw stand. But there are also things that you will need to take into consideration before you build your stand.

•     To have enough room to be able to cut wood of different sizes, it would be advantageous to make the stand movable by installing locking caster wheels underneath.

•     In extending the table, make sure to do it on the left and rear sides rather than the front. Making extensions on the front section will only make problems in the operation of the table saw.

•     Also, it would be good to consider making the left and rear extensions foldable. That way, you get to save space by putting them away when they are not being used.

•     It would also be good if you make the extensions of the left and rear sections as large as you possibly can but still taking into consideration the available space you have for it.

If you are just planning on making a regular stand for your table saw, here are seven easy steps you can follow:

Step 1: Cut all the parts into their designated sizes.

The first step to start building your table saw stand is to make sure that all the parts are cut into their respective sizes.

Doing this before anything else will make the building process faster.

It would be advantageous if your table saw can be detached from its stand.

So, building the stand in a way that there is space for the table saw to be detached would be good.

Step 2: Assemble all the parts.

Since all the wooden parts have been cut into their respective sizes, you can just assemble them.

This will help you see if all parts fit. Also, you will be able to tell if the measurements were adequate for the table saw, too.

In this step, fastening the bolts tight is not yet necessary since there might be some necessary adjustments that need to be done.

Step 3: Fitting the table saw into the stand.

After putting all the parts together, you will have to try to fit the table saw to the carcass before permanently fastening all the bolts to keep the parts together.

During this process, you are still able to adjust the height and width or each part.

So, it is important to leave out a small allowance in the measurement in case the table saw doesn’t fit.

After all, you can just cut out the extra allowance once everything is set.

Step 4: Adding the wheels underneath the stand.

Having a movable stand would be a great thing since you might want to move it every now and then when you are cutting wood.

Also, this will make cleaning up easier. And, if ever you want to transfer it from one position to another, you can just drag it around easily.

Although you might not want it to be too movable, so, the better way to go is to install two wheels, and the other two can just be normal wooden legs. That way, you can still have stability when cutting wood.

Step 5: Check if the saw is positioned slightly above the sides.

This is a very important step in building a stand for your table saw.

The reason why this step is necessary is because you have to ensure that it is safe to use.

Since there is the possibility of materials getting stuck on the sides or edges when you push them through the blade of the table saw, you will want to make sure that the saw’s outfeed height is slightly higher than the sides of the stand itself.

The danger in this scenario is that to fix the problem, you will have to dislodge it by reaching over the blade of the saw.

Step 6: Attaching the foldable extension. (Optional).

This step is optional.

A foldable extension would be useful if you plan on using your table saw to cut bigger and/or lengthier pieces of wood.

Making it foldable is also a great feature since this will help in saving space in your work area.

Since the extension table is foldable, it will make the table saw stand easier to transport if ever you want to bring your stand to another place.

So, these are all the basic steps that you will want to follow to build a basic table saw stand.

Another thing you might want to do is to paint your table saw stand. But doing this step is entirely up to you.

Some will want to paint the finished product, while some will just slap some varnish onto the stand.

You can still add many other features to this design. The process is quick and can easily be done by first-timers. You literally won’t have to worry about it being too complicated for you at all.
